TRAMPOLINE QUALITY AND EXERCISE BENEFIT, October 7, 2011

Unfortunately this trampoline is poorly constructed. In Southern California it can be purchased from Big 5 Sporting Good Store for $39.95 almost year around. Although it is not as sturdy as an expensive treadmill or exercise bike it can provide great aerobic exercise with little stress on the ankles, hips, or knees. I am a 195 pound male that uses this trampoline 7 days per week along with my other exercise activity. Like most other users, I have found it very inconvenient to have the springs break or come detached from the frame. Realizing that if NASA used this form of exercise to train astronauts, I realized that I had to come up with a solution to the dilemma of breaking springs. Although, I have played football, basketball, and track I do not pay money to go to gyms with fancy memberships. I prefer working out on my own. Therefore, my solution is to use this cheap machine until a spring breaks and replace it. I rarely discard an old trampoline. Once the plastic tears and becomes unsightly and multiple springs break, I will retire the trampoline to my garage and use it for parts. I have many springs collected for replacement use. It’s much cheaper than going to the hardware store, although I have done that. It’s not uncommon for me to invest in 2 trampolines over a 12 to 18 month period. If you decide to discard a trampoline after heavy use just make sure that you remove the springs before you place it on the trash heap. They can be very valuable. Replacing a spring can be very difficult if the person is not very strong. To replace the old spring, I normally stand the old treadmill upright and remove the old spring, which is normally broken, and place the new spring in the same position. Fifty percent of the time, I cannot apply enough pull to attach it in place. So, I merely, heat the spring on the kitchen stove and pull it into place while using the best set of insulated gloves that I can find to avoid burning myself. If a person will incorporate using the trampoline with the treadmill, exercise bike, or walking/jogging this can be a great way to provide substantial benefit to the body. The downside is that most manufacturers use very cheap grades of steel in the manufacturing process when producing this great exercise machine. I have owned 10 of these machines and will be purchasing number 11 very shortly. I have recommended the purchase of the trampoline to many friends and acquaintances, but most are unwilling to involve themselves in the painstaking process of replacing springs as I do. Ok, I have had this mini trampoline for a little over a year now. I have broken 8+ springs. It worked real well for a while then a spring would break about every other time I used it. I am not a heavy person; about 145lbs. I know I need to loose weight, that’s why I bought this stupid thing. But each time a spring breaks, my boyfriend somehow manages to re-attach it. This is getting old. I broke 2 springs the other night when I used it. The plastic cover that goes around the outer edge has cracked and torn, even though I don’t use it very much. I only use it indoors, I use it maybe 2 times a week. I wish it would have lasted longer, but I give up. I guess I will have to throw it away.
